Visa Requirement for Foreigners Travelling to Malaysia for Business Purpose

Visa is an endorsement in a passport or other recognized travel document of foreigner indicating that the holder has applied for a permission to enter Malaysia and that permission has been granted.


Who Eligible To Apply For Malaysia Tourist Visa

All foreign visitors entering Malaysia through the entry points will be given social visit pass for social visit which including the following purposes:

  • Attending Meeting

  • Attending Business Discussion

  • Inspection of factory

  • Auditing Company's Account

  • Signing Agreement

  • Doing survey on investment opportunities / setting up factory

  • Attending Seminars


Nowadays, Malaysia does not issue any business visa. If the visit / trip is only for business meeting, discussion, negotiation etc., as long as the visit is not engaging any employment (paid or unpaid) you may enter the country by using tourist visa.


Types of Visa


Foreign Citizen can apply for two (2) types of visa.

Single Entry Visa This is issued to Foreign Citizen who enter Malaysia for social or business purposes. It is normally valid for Single Entry and for a period not exceeding three (3) months from the date of issuance. Multiple Entry Visa This is issued to foreign citizens who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for business or government-to-government affairs. It is normally valid for a period of three (3) to twelve (12) months from the date of issuance.


Citizens of India and the People's Republic of China, who wish to enter Malaysia for social visits, are eligible to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa.

Validity of Approved Visa Multiple Entry Visa is valid for one (1) year from the date of issuance.


The allowance of stay is up to thirty (30) consecutive days for each entry to Malaysia and extension is not allowed.


You can enter the country till the day of visa expiry date provided the passport remains valid for not less than 6 months.

Requirements for Multiple Entry Visa Application

  1. Applicant must show proof of sufficient fund to stay in Malaysia.

  2. Applicant must possess a valid and authentic return ticket.

  3. Tour groups are not eligible to apply for a Multiple Entry Visa.

  4. A Multiple Entry Visa costs RM50.00 for Indian Citizen and RM30.00 for citizens of the People’s Republic of China.


This is issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for business or government-to-government matters. It is normally valid for a period within three (3) months to twelve (12) months from the date of issue.

PROCEDURE FOR VISA APPLICATION


Visa On Arrival (Effective 1 June 2022)

The Government of Malaysia has introduced Visa On Arrival (VOA) for citizens of the People's Republic of China and Republic of India visiting to Malaysia.

The following criteria need to be fulfilled:

  • Travel from a third country namely, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei with a valid visa from those countries.

  • Priority will be given to groups or family tourist, businessmen or investors

  • VOA fee is RM200 per person

  • Duration of stay is 15 days for each entry with no extension

  • Have a confirmed return ticket

  • Proof of financial ability to stay in Malaysia (USD 500 cash or equivalent in Ringgit Malaysia and proof in cash, traveller cheque, credit card, debit card, electronic money recognized by Bank Negara Malaysia)

  • Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA/KLIA2)

  • Penang International Airport

  • Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru

  • Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Sabah

  • Kuching International Airport, Sarawak

  • Langkawi International Airport, Kedah

  • Miri Airport, Sarawak

  • Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport, Selangor

By Land

  • Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar, Tanjung Kupang, Johor

  • Pos Kawalan Imigresen Sungai Tujoh, Sarawak

  • Kompleks Kastam, Kuarantin dan Keselamatan Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah

By Sea

  • Pos Kawalan Imigresen, Terminal Feri Antarabangsa, Labuan
